Back from break

Just had a week long spring break, now it's back to reality. At least my weeks start slow and build. This week we have a vision book due for technical aspects of a "different" version of Hamlet and a ballet level placement class for next year. I also have an essay due for my writing class so I better get to work!

Midterms!

This week there is a midterm for Intro to Theatre, a class which all freshmen in the department have to take. It is based on a practical version of Aristotle's The Poetics written by the professor. I just got back from studying with friends at a tea room in downtown Syracuse. Downtown has a lot of cool, really good places to eat, and is easily accessible by bus. Last week in Lab (a department wide meeting every Wednesday) there was a presentation by juniors who spent last semester in London. A cool thing about SU drama is that you have the option to go to London in junior year, NYC senior year, both, or neither. Back to studying...

First blog

Hi everyone! I'm Chris, a freshman musical theatre major in the drama department of the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University. That's a mouthful. I've never blogged before, so bear with me while I figure out what's going on. I hope I answer a lot of your questions about SU Drama, and that you ask my as many questions as you want. Just to let you know a bit about what goes on here: tomorrow I have the option of seeing three shows (for free!) all happening in Syracuse Stage where the drama department is based. The professional company is doing Sondheim's Putting It Together with 2 Tony award winning actors, and the drama department is opening Way of the World on mainstage, and doing a workshop project with professional playwrights and composers, and student cast members. It's really amazing that this all happens in the place that I go for class every day. I hope you post as many comments as you want, and that I learn how to blog really soon...
